Magic book; half of a matched set. Orion Cragstone is currently in possession of the other book. What is written in one, is magically copied to the other, once per day. Travertine uses these as a way of keeping track of his men in the field, and what they are working on. Orion Cragstone (also played by Joel Schonbrunn) is a siege engineer, on a 100 year mission to investigate non-dwarven siege weaponry and tactics. Travertine is his commanding officer, who sent him on the mission.

Special Notes:
Non-disclosed but discoverable during the “brinksmanship”, that there is a 3rd instance of the book. Owned by the Warder King, who is aware of the recent activities of Travertine. This makes his life a bit complicated, as he is under a long term mission from the Warder King, to discover what the other kingdoms/societies think about the dwarven kingdom, with an emphasis on the role of Thorin in the 3 peaks accord. The belief is that the dwarves are weak without the mace of kings, and the warder king wants to have feelers out in the world at large. Basically, they are trying to figure out who the threats are to the Dwarves, and if they can trust the Gesni. Who seem to be scheming about a great many things.

All of this affects Travertine’s participation in the ELC, and his foe & allies issues. He does follow the chain of command, and that means following the Warder King, even though he will openly talk of dissent, in an attempt to have others share in the discussion…

Add in a little bit of the fact, that Travertine has not had a bad experience yet with the ELC members, and it is sort of “novel” to be out in the world of the humans and other folk. He is unlikely to return to his hold any time soon.

Character History: [link to another page]
Travertine is getting on in years, as a 500 year old dwarf. He has seen many things come and go through the kingdom of the dwarves, and it convinced they are not on the right path. He has spent most of his time in and about Collossum (the central city of the dwarves). He has previously been a teacher at the dwarven war academy, and this is where he first met Orion Cragstone aka "Crag". He has since stopped his teaching, but remains part of the council of clan elders that decide the curriculum for the war academy. He is the "Warhammer" of the Brownbeard Clan, which is roughly equivalent to a High General in a traditional army structure. The Brownbeard clan is one of the larger clans, with numbers in the thousands.

Recently, Travertine was involved in a strange scavenger hunt on the Sunside of Thorin, questing for some artifacts at the bequest of Tertian, a Knight of the Covenant. While on this quest (AKA the Evil Game July 2002), he was working with a group of other evil characters, whom have decided to continue working together, under the the name of “The East Lindora Company”. While with this group, they were repeatedly attacked by the Knights of Light, who have become sworn enemies of the group now known as the ELC.

The Current members of the newly formed East Lindora Company are:

Tiller of the Soulforge Clan, a dwarf (Vern Kriske)
Tallenin, a human death mage, (Hillary Adams)
Chandler, a human assassin, (Robin Chamberlain)
A half Drow/Half Elf (name forgotten!) (Phillip Locaino)
Maxwell, a possessed persona inhabiting Jean-Claude (Aaron Lyle)

Travertine is very interested in letting the ELC expand, and evolve. As such, he has requested a 5 year sabbatical leave from his post as Warhammer of the BrownBeard Clan.
